The Top 10 Motorcycle Trade Shows Worldwide

Riding season may be coming to a close in some areas but motorcycle expo season is just starting to heat up! Check out this top list of global motorcycle events and trade shows to put on your calendar in 2021, and beyond.

Most motorcycle shows were either postponed or got an online version during 2020 because of Covid-19. We hope this changes in 2021, so make sure to read below on the status of each show and check the show’s website for more information.

The Top 10 Motorcycle Shows and Expos Worldwide 

1. EICMA, 2021 — Italy 

EICMA, or “The Milan Motorcycle Show” as it’s sometimes known, is one of the largest and most anticipated events in the motorcycle industry. Motorcycle manufacturers take advantage of the over 500,000 annual visitors to showcase products, tease new developments, and unveil never-before-seen designs. Consumers can also shop among the many retailers and aftermarket suppliers at the show.

Current Status: Canceled in 2020, it is now CONFIRMED that EICMA 2021 will take place. The show’s organizers have confirmed that EICMA 2021 will take place in Milano during November, 23rd-28th, 2021. Per the show’s standard scheduling format, the first days will be reserved for press and trade, with doors opening to the public later on.

2. IMS, 2021 — United States 

The United States version of EICMA, the International Motorcycle Shows is a series of motorcycle expositions that take place in major cities across the country. Founded in 1982 by Great American Media, the IMS show series was originally named the “Great American Motorcycle and ATV Shows.” Annually this expo draws roughly 600,000 visitors total, with over 17 leading manufacturers showcasing motorcycles, gear, gadgets, ATVs, concept bikes, scooters, and more.

Current Status: IMS SVP Tracy Harris announced that in 2021 IMS will take place outdoors in an effort to comply with COVID-19 guidelines while connecting with consumers and powersports brands.

3. Intermot, 2022 — Germany 

The world’s second-largest motorcycle show after EICMA, Intermot is an international motorcycle, scooter, and e-bicycle trade fair that takes place in Cologne, Germany, every two years. The trade fair features over 1,000 exhibitors from over 40 countries, and typically boasts over 200,000 visitors per show. Guests can shop for a wide variety of motorcycle products, view manufacturer exhibitions, demo new vehicles, and even watch stunt shows and racing demonstrations. 

Current Status: While Intermot 2020 was suspended, Intermot 2022 is projected to take place in Cologne. At that time an additional digital format may also be explored for consumers (as was done in 2020).

4. Moto Expo Melbourne, 2021  — Australia

Australia’s largest Motorcycle Expo, Moto Expo Melbourne is a 3-day event held every two years in Melbourne, Australia. This indoor/outdoor exhibition spans almost 30,000sqm and features the sale and display of apparel, products, and more for motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, UTVs, and Jet Skis. 

Current Status: Moto Expo Melbourne is projected to resume in 2021. Potential attendees are encouraged to watch the event website for date and time announcements for future shows.

5. Brussels Motor Show, 2022 — Belgium

Featuring one of the largest showrooms in the world, the Brussels Motor Show boasts nearly half a million visitors annually. Held in Heysel Palaces, this car/motorcycle event launches the commercial model year.

Current Status: Though the Brussels Motor Show is an annual event, organizers have announced that the January 2021 show has been canceled, and the event will resume in 2022.

6. The Motorcycle Shows, 2022 — Canada 

The Motorcycle Shows is a premier motorcycle and OHV show series that is held annually in six cities across Canada. Owned by Power Sports Services, the show features displays and model showings from major manufacturers like KTM, Aprilia, Harley-Davidson, BMW, and more. In 2020 most locations boasted over 30,000 visitors per show.  

Current Status: In a press release Power Sports Services (PSS) announced that they will not proceed with the six-circuit 2021 shows due to ongoing health and safety concerns. Organizers assure future vendors and attendees to begin preparing early though, as the 2022 show series will be “even more spectacular.”

7. American International Motorcycle Expo (AIM), 2022 — United States

Known as North America’s largest motorcycle and powersports trade show, the AIM Expo is widely regarded as a top destination for motorsports manufacturers, retailers, and media. This impressive B2B conference is produced by the Motorcycle Industry Council, and is held annually.

Current Status: In a statement made by Cinnamon Kernes, VP and GM of MIC Events, AIMExpo 2021 was canceled in an effort to provide a safe and high-quality show experience for all dealer attendees. Alternative quality networking events are being explored for 2021, with AIMExpo 2022 currently set to resume again in Columbus, Ohio.)

8. Motorcycle Trade Expo, 2021 — England

Europe’s largest B2B motorcycling industry trade show, this historic event is the top place to be for dealers, retailers, and manufacturers. Held annually in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, the Motorcycle Trade Expo features parts, accessories, workshops, and personal services for two-wheelers. 

Current Status: Currently the Motorcycle Trade Expo is projected to continue on-schedule for 2021. Exhibitors are encouraged to check the site regularly though for registration and show status information.

9. Motor Bike Expo, 2021 — Italy 

The world’s largest custom motorcycle event, Motor Bike Expo is “a trade fair that focuses on motorcyclists and the use of motorcycle components, accessories, clothing [and more].” Held annually in Verona, Italy, the show features more than 700 exhibitors and almost 200,000 visitors (and growing) every year. 

Current Status: Currently the Motor Bike Expo is on-schedule to be held in Verona, Italy in January of 2021. Attendees will be asked to comply with all COVID-19 rules and regulations while onsite.

10. Barber Vintage Motofest, 2021 — United States 

Barber Vintage Motofest represents an ultimate destination for many vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. Founded in 2005, this 3-day event is held annually in Birmingham, Alabama, and features commercial vendors, vintage racing, a world-renowned swap meet, shows, exhibitions, and more. While onsite, fans can also visit the historic Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. 

Current Status: Barber Vintage Motofest is currently projected to take place in October of 2021. As many of Barber’s events are outdoors, the venue feels confident that attendees can enjoy a largely unmodified event schedule.

Whether you’re a retailer, manufacturer, or rider — motorcycle trade shows and expos are the perfect trips to plan for during the winter months. Motorcycle expos and conferences are ideal for showcasing new products, shopping for new gear, and making new contacts.
